Are you worried that you are spending too much time looking at random apps and staring at them mindlessly?
You’re not the only one. According to App Annie’s State of Mobile 2022 report, users in the top 10 Android mobile markets spent an average of 4.8 hours per day browsing apps. This is roughly one-third of our daily waking hours.
Brazil and Indonesia were the top two countries in terms of usage, with both clocking in at 5.4 hours each. The United States came in 10th place with 4.2 hours per day (an hour more than Americans watch TV), and the UK was 12th with just four hours.
Since 2019, the usage has increased by 30%
It turns out that people are happy to spend a little cash on their apps. The App Store spending in iOS, China’s Third-party Android Stores, and Google Play increased by 19% year on year. In 2021, $320,000 per minute was spent and the total spend was *deep breath* $170 Billion.
The results of the survey on which apps people are spending their time on are not surprising. Seven out of 10 minutes was spent on the photo and social apps, like last year. TikTok was also the most downloaded app globally in 2021, so there’s no surprise.
It is worth noting that AppAnnie’s report is based upon their App Annie Intelligence product. Mashable was told by the company that it “provides proprietary estimates for mobile app downloads and revenue.” Mashable reached out to Mashable for clarification. We will update this article if they respond.
